About the competition
What Food What Wine? is an exciting competition which takes your favourite 'every-day recipes' and finds the best wines to match. In our inaugural 2013 What Food What Wine? Competition, categories include; 'Snacks' including dishes such a Biltong, the much-loved 'Traditionally South African' including Pap & Wors and Bobotie, 'Familiar Favourites' including Mushroom Risotto and Lasagne and finally the 'For Afters' category - all created by our Food Director, Jenny Morris. As South Africa's first major food and wine matching competition, it differs from the other wine competitions in that all wines are judged specifically and only on the suitability of the match. Judged true blind, the only details the judges know is whether the wine is under or over R100.
